We received an authentication request for the first-generation ARMS rod from a customer residing in Ibaraki Prefecture. This authentication will be the 11th rod evaluated at the Megabass Factory.
At the Megabass Factory, we continuously perform authentication of various “classic Megabass” that are still in existence.
今回、鑑定依頼のあった初代ARMSは、1980年代よりおよそ4年間の間で90本あまり製作されたメガバス創世期の伝説的バスロッドです。
ARMSは、メガバス社として公式に発売されたブランド初の製品となり、ARMSのアイデンティティは、のちにデストロイヤーシリーズを生み出し、現在の全てのバスロッドへと継承されるメガバスロッドのDNAとして、メガバスのビッグバンとなりました。
当時、東京都品川区大井町にあった工房で、現メガバスグループ創業者である伊東由樹がお客様の手形より指の長さを測り、グリップハンドルを一本一本手削りで仕上げたカスタムロッドです。素材には、厳選された特別な繊維方向を有するチークウッドに硬化樹脂を浸透させて用いています。
The first-generation ARMS is a legendary Megabass rod produced during the early days of Megabass, with around 90 units made over approximately four years in the 1980s.
ARMS was the first official product released under the Megabass brand. It laid the foundation for the Megabass DNA, which later evolved into the Destroyer series and continues to influence all Megabass rods to this day, marking the “Big Bang” of Megabass.
At the time, in a workshop located in Oimachi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, Yuki Ito, the founder of the current Megabass Group, personally measured customers’ finger lengths from their handprints and handcrafted each grip handle by hand. The materials used included carefully selected teak wood with a special fiber direction, impregnated with hardening resin.
今回、鑑定のご依頼のあった品は、アイティオーエンジニアリングのチーフプロダクトエンジニア：竹内崇裕氏と、メガバス㈱本社ファクトリーのプロダクト・アーカイブ部門の責任者：影山太一氏を筆頭とする審査チームによる厳正な検証を経て、当時のARMS製作者本人、伊東社長の鑑定を頂き、当時のオリジナリティを損なう改造や、外部より不当に手が加えられている部位の無い、当時のままの「オリジナル」として、正式に真作であると鑑定に至りました。
四半世紀以上の永きに渡り弊社製品をご愛用いただき、また歴史的価値のある品を大切に保有いただきましたことを感謝致します。

The ARMS rod submitted for authentication this time underwent a thorough examination by a review team led by Takahiro Takeuchi, Chief Product Engineer at ITO Engineering, and Taichi Kageyama, head of the Product Archive Division at the Megabass Headquarters Factory. After this rigorous process, it was finally authenticated by the original developer himself, President Yuki Ito, as a genuine piece from that original time—completely ”ORIGINAL MEGABASS PRODUCTS” with no modifications or tampering that would compromise its authenticity.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the continued support shown to our products over more than a quarter of a century, and for the great care taken in preserving this historically significant item.
