This patented head locking system from ITO Engineering, proven in the Destroyer series, delivers stability, vibration transmission, and machined appeal. The CAIYEN VSM is designed with a focus on squid metal-specific ergonomics and performance. The head locking hood, carved from a solid block of aluminum, contacts the outside of the blank's metal-sheathed connector under load. This enhances the rod shaft's axial rigidity and acts as a metal bridge that amplifies various vibrations from the depths - like delicate nibbles on the lure or the current's effect - and transmits them to the angler's hands. With use, it facilitates an intuitive connection between the angler's senses and equipment, making the rod shaft feel like an extension of self.

Inspired by the historic "Megane Bridge," the oldest arched stone bridge in Nagasaki Prefecture, Yuki Ito and the Megabass team leveraged the bridge’s time-tested structural integrity to develop a gracefully contoured reel seat that fits effortlessly into the palm of the hand. The MBCS’s high arch also acts as a spine, aligning and transmitting rod orientation for precision cast and operation. The uniquely sculpted design maximizes strength with minimal weight, allowing direct-blank access to fingers to enhance sensitivity during deep contact.
