This patented head locking system from ITO Engineering, proven in the Destroyer series, delivers stability, vibration transmission, and machined appeal. The CAIYEN VSM is designed with a focus on squid metal-specific ergonomics and performance. The head locking hood, carved from a solid block of aluminum, contacts the outside of the blank's metal-sheathed connector under load. This enhances the rod shaft's axial rigidity and acts as a metal bridge that amplifies various vibrations from the depths - like delicate nibbles on the lure or the current's effect - and transmits them to the angler's hands. With use, it facilitates an intuitive connection between the angler's senses and equipment, making the rod shaft feel like an extension of self.

The baitcasting models come equipped with a Spiral Guide System that significantly reduces blank twist and line tangle. When a conventional baitcasting rod undergoes heavy load—especially during vertical presentations—the top-mounted guides contribute to considerable blank twist, adding another torsional load dynamic that causes blank stress. The spiral system addresses this issue by re-routing the load to the underside of the blank to significantly reduce twist, thereby tapping the rod’s core design function and wellspring of strength. To further minimize blank twist, especially on the reel handle side, the guide's spiral direction is aligned for left or right-hand retrieve.
